Fifty line poem

lyrics

I met upon a child of god
who spoke unto me
when I was old I'd use this shard
to capture all my dreams

Hearken unto this drum
to my solemn beat
Dim your eyes before the sun
undertake this journey

Now take this oar and travel
far and past the sea
Aboard this gull unravel,
will your destiny

And greet will those who came before
such as you and me
and they shall grant what is in store
indeed what's in your tongue and cheek

They fill your palm with shells
They bring you to the obsidian stone
you hunger for their love and tell
yourself I am is gone

then as you descend
they throw kisses and
a riot of perfumes
rushes right through
the you that's subsumed
I wonder then
does it keep thy heart
with all diligence

for out of it are the
issues of life
and from that are we
such tools for strife
out of which it seems
that in the rhyming mind
there towering a gleam
midst looming signs

Take this oar that I brought
off my humbled heart
I abandoned wars and overwrought
I plunged into a mess

Echoes of those forebearers
pang throughout my chest
I was a skeleton now I wear
new sets of flesh

In that heavenly garden
where they dwell
mothers fathers sing to them
I wonder well
Do the angels sing for you too
Did you keep thy heart
with all diligence?
